Divyanshi Bhowmick’s Historic Win

Divyanshi Bhowmick, aged 14, clinched the U‑15 Girls’ Singles gold at the 29th Asian Youth Championships in Tashkent—India’s first in this category in 36 years. She defeated three Chinese players en route to the title, including Zhu Qihi in the final.

Despite her stellar performance, Divyanshi admitted in interviews that she’s more nervous about school exams than this historic victory.

Hailing from Kandivali, Mumbai, her journey began during COVID lockdown when her father purchased a table tennis robot to support her practice

She balanced training under multiple coaches and exposure to senior WTT events—defeating World No. 64 Giorgia Piccolin in her senior debut at age 14.

Prior successes include:

  • U‑17 Girls’ Singles gold at 2024 WTT Youth Contender (Algiers)
  • Silver in U‑15 Girls’ Doubles at 2023 ITTF World Youth Championships .

As of mid-2025, U‑15 rank is No. 3, U‑17 No. 14, and U‑19 No. 24 globally.

Awarded Best Women’s Player at Maharashtra’s Table Tennis Super League in April
