🇮🇳 Namrata Batra Creates History at 2025 World Games.

India’s Namrata Batra has scripted history by winning a silver medal in the Women’s 52 kg Sanda event at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China — the nation’s first-ever Wushu medal at the prestigious event.

The four-time national champion had a stellar run, defeating Lebanon’s Barbara El Rassi 2–0 in the quarter-finals and Philippines’ Krizan Faith Collado 2–0 in the semi-finals. In the gold medal bout, she fought valiantly but went down 0–2 to China’s Mengyue Chen.

This is India’s second medal at the 2025 World Games after Rishabh Yadav’s bronze in men’s compound archery. The country’s overall tally now stands at 7 medals – 1 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze.

Namrata’s landmark achievement is expected to give a big boost to Wushu’s popularity in India, inspiring a new generation of martial artists.
