🥉 From Ladakh’s Frozen Ponds to Asia Cup Glory – The Women Who Changed Indian Ice Hockey ❄🏒🇮🇳

The journey of the Indian Women’s Ice Hockey Team — from battling the elements on Ladakh’s frozen ponds to earning a historic bronze medal at the 2025 IIHF Women’s Asia Cup — is now being celebrated on screen in “Sound Of Courage”, a powerful film by Pocket FM under its “India, Kuch Acha Suno” campaign.

Breaking the Ice, Breaking Barriers
For years, these women practised in extreme cold without a proper ice rink. They poured water over frozen lakes to make their own training surfaces, wore oversized borrowed gear, and faced constant taunts questioning why women should play ice hockey at all.
But instead of giving up, they pushed forward — driven by a passion stronger than the freezing winds of Ladakh.

The Historic Win
In June 2025, the underdogs made history in Al-Ain, UAE. They secured India’s first-ever podium finish in the sport, taking bronze at the IIHF Women’s Asia Cup. Even more memorable was their first victory over the UAE, a dramatic 5–4 overtime thriller sealed by Stanzin Dolkar’s stunning backhand goal.
Captain Tsewang Chuskit summed it up:
“Victory is born out of persistence. We chose to listen to our inner voice.”

Sound Of Courage’ – More Than a Film
Narrated by Padma Shri Morup Namgyal, the film features the actual team — Chuskit, Diskit C Angmo, Sonam Angmo, Skarma Rinchen, Rinchen Dolma, Sherap Zangmo, Padma Chorol, Rigzin Yangdol, and Dechen Dolker — bringing authenticity to every frame.
Assistant coach Ali Amir recalls:
“They trained in gear that didn’t even fit, but their determination fit the biggest stage.”

A Movement on Ice
Harjinder Singh ‘Jindi’, Secretary of the Ice Hockey Association of India, says:
“We didn’t just win a medal — we made a statement. We are more than a team; we are a movement.”
This victory has already inspired young girls across India, from Ladakh to Chennai, to lace up skates and dream big.

💙 They fought the cold.
💙 They fought the odds.
💙 They fought for the right to dream.

And they won.
