India signed off with an impressive show at the World Boxing Championships 2025, clinching a total of four medals – two gold, one silver, and one bronze – all from the women’s contingent.
The highlight of the campaign came from Minakshi Hooda, who secured the gold medal in the women’s 48kg category after defeating Kazakhstan’s two-time world champion Nazym Kyzaibay in a dominant display. Adding to the glory, Jaismine Lamboria produced a stellar performance in the 57kg division, outclassing Poland’s Julia Szeremeta 4-1 in the final to clinch India’s second gold.
In the heavier weight categories, Nupur Sheoran (80+ kg) fought bravely to claim a silver medal, while veteran Pooja Rani (80 kg) bagged a bronze, ensuring India had podium finishes across weight divisions.
This medal haul underlines the growing strength and depth of India’s women boxers on the world stage, with young talents stepping up alongside experienced names. The double-gold finish by Minakshi and Jaismine has given Indian boxing a major boost ahead of upcoming continental championships and the build-up to the Olympics.
With four medals, including two world titles, India has once again stamped its authority in international women’s boxing.
